SUMMARY:VLA Legal Clinics for the Freelancers Union
DESCRIPTION:Freelancers Hub and Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts have partnered to offer free legal clinics to NYC freelancer artists and creatives in media and entertainment in order to help them protect their work and deal with legal challenges. VLA Legal Clinics for the Freelancers Union are scheduled four times during the fiscal year. In a clinic, up to five freelancers meet one-on-one with one to three attorneys (on average) each hour for five 30-45 minute time slots to discuss an approved legal issue in a clinic consultation. Approved legal issues include legal issues related to freelancers’ creative projects, including but not limited to contract review, non-payment issues, and intellectual property advice.\n \n
